Crypto News: AnubisDAO Scammer Strikes Again, Moving $5.9M in ETH Through Tornado Cash

AnubisDAO, the crypto project that raised $60 million during its token sale before its developers disappeared with the liquidity pool, is in the news again.

According to Certik, an address linked to the AnubisDAO rug pull has moved 3,000 ethereum (ETH) worth about $5.9 million via Tornado Cash, a token mixer. This latest transfer comes almost a year after the same wallet laundered 1,018 ETH valued at $1.18 million through the same platform.

Peckshield, a blockchain data security and analysis company, had reported in April that the same wallet had moved 3,000 wrapped ETH (wETH) worth approximately $5.6 million. In total, the scammer has laundered around 9,500 ETH through Tornado Cash.

AnubisDAO had posed as a fork of OlympusDAO, a decentralized reserve currency funded through bond sales and liquidity provider fees, looking to ride the dog-coin craze that had gripped the crypto community.

The project’s native ANKH tokens were sold during the token sale, but 20 hours into the sale, with the project having raised 13,597 ETH, the pool’s liquidity was transferred to a different address, effectively driving the token’s value to zero.

With this latest move, it remains to be seen if the scammer will be caught, or if investors will ever recover their lost funds.
