A cryptocurrency investor has reportedly been scammed out of $3.8 million worth of Rocket Pool tokens in a recent phishing attack.
Blockchain analytics firm Lookonchain shared details of the incident, which took place just a few hours ago.
The victim’s wallet was targeted by a phishing wallet known as Fake_Phishing66321, which transferred around 85,898 RPL tokens out of the investor’s wallet in two transactions.
Lookonchain posted a screenshot of the phishing attack and tagged crypto investigator ZachXBT, who confirmed that the attackers had used Venom Drainer to carry out the scam.
This incident highlights the ongoing problem of crypto phishing and scamming attacks, which continue to cause significant losses for investors.
In a separate case on March 24, another investor lost around $4 million worth of ERC 20 tokens in a permit phishing attack.
The total value of the stolen Rocket Pool tokens in this recent attack was estimated at $3.83 million, with a gas fee of just $6 for the entire transaction.
